Unveiled ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, MINI is showing off the John Cooper Works variant of its latest Cooper compact.
Under the hood of the 2015 MINI John Cooper Works is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine providing 231 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, allowing the compact hatch to make the 0-60 sprint in 6.4 seconds when equipped with an automatic transmission. The manual transmission will be a hair slower with a 6.3-second 0-60 time.
The 2015 MINI JCW has 10 percent more horsepower than its predecessor while torque has been increased by 23 percent. Expect pricing on the 2015 MINI John Cooper Works to be announced closer to its arrival at dealerships.

As the most powerful MINI ever made, the new JCW model also features a revised suspension with adjustable dampers, an electronic locking differential and Brembo brakes that are all upgrades compared to the standard MINI Cooper model.
Naturally the MINI JCW also has more aggressive styling up front and in the rear while exclusive 17-inch John Cooper Works Race Spoke wheels adorn all four corners. One paint finish that will be exclusive to the MINI JCW will be Rebel Green while model-specific options range from a MINI head-up display, roof and exterior mirror covers in Chili Red, 18-inch John Cooper Works wheels and hood stripes.
